What is "active matrix"?
A liquid crystal display structure in which switching transistors or diodes are attached to each pixel to control the on/off voltage, active matrix produces a brighter and sharper display with a broader viewing angle than a passive matrix display. It is also known as AMLCD (active matrix liquid crystal display).
