Dear Engineer,
Standard enclosure platforms - CompactPCI, AdvancedTCA, VMEbus,
ATR (Air Transport Rack), and others - can be manufactured a
number of ways. Is it important to know how your enclosure is
built? You bet. Let's start with the most common
types of construction used in benign environments.

Modifications Making VMEbus & VME64X
Compatible
By Kelvin Aist

What is VXS?
VXS is a switched serial backplane fabric for VMEbus defined by
VITA specification 41, www.vita.com. VXS
payloads are standard VME64X boards with a new P0 connector which
handles two 4X, full-duplex switched serial ports. A VXS switch
card connects payload cards and manages the crossbar switching.
